New Chapter Planner
Walks a member through three stages after a big change (steady the basics, take stock, plan forward) and turns them into small goals for the next 3 months, with links to the right hub for money, legal, family and work tasks.
What you will need
- What has changed?: Used to suggest relevant hub guides.
- Are these steady? Housing, food, income, safety, sleep, someone to talk to (yes / partly / no for each): Anything not steady becomes a priority step.
- What matters most to you now? Pick up to 3 (More detail) (multi-select: family / faith / health / learning / work / community / creativity / rest / independence / other): Goals are built around these.
- Up to 3 small goals for the next 3 months (More detail) (list: goal, first step, date): Keep goals small and specific, for example 'join the Tuesday walking group'.
How it works
Stage 1 Steady: for each basic answered 'no' or 'partly', add a priority step and link: housing/income -> Money hub; safety -> Safety hub and GBV Command Centre 0800 428 428 if relevant; sleep/mood -> counsellor; someone to talk to -> Social Connection Check. If safety == 'no': show the safety panel before continuing. Stage 2 Take stock: prompts 'What I have lost', 'What I still have', 'What needs urgent attention' with suggested hub links by event_type: loss of someone -> After a Death Checklist, Legal hub estate guide, Money Changes After a Death; divorce or breakup -> Legal hub divorce guide, Family hub co-parenting; job loss or retirement -> Work hub retrenchment rights, UIF, Retirement Adjustment Check; move or migration -> Social Connection Check; new baby or return to work -> Work hub leave guide; illness -> Caregiver Weekly Planner or Health hub. Stage 3 Plan forward: up to 3 goals, each with a first step and a date; review prompt at 30, 60 and 90 days ('Done / In progress / Changed my mind', no scores or rewards). steady_count = number of basics answered 'yes' (0-6)
What you get
- Basics to steady first
- Basics currently steady (out of 6)
- Your 3-month plan with first steps and dates
What it means
- Focus on the basics first; bigger plans can wait until life feels steadier.
- You have a base to build on; small steps done regularly add up.
- Changing direction is part of starting again; choose one new small goal.
