What you will need
- Each appliance: name, watts, hours used a day, how many (list): The wattage is on the label or in the manual.
- Your electricity tariff per kWh, including VAT (R): From your municipal or Eskom bill or prepaid slip; tariffs differ by area.
- Days in the month (days)
How it works
For each appliance: kWh_month = watts x hours_per_day x quantity x days / 1000. cost = kWh_month x tariff. total_kwh = sum of kWh_month; total_cost = total_kwh x tariff. The three largest users are listed. Fixed monthly charges and stepped (block) tariffs are not modelled, so the real bill can differ.
